Caroline R. Flanders, Attorney

Caroline began her work with George in 2001 as a paralegal, managing the office and administering the non-profit organization You’ve Got a Friend. In 2009, she began pursuing her law degree just six months after the arrival of her first child, Zyler. Her second child, Oscar, thoughtfully arrived one week after her final exams in 2010.  Caroline earned her Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 2012.

Caroline’s nine years as a paralegal gave her a deep understanding of the Island’s real estate landscape and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to client service.  Her practice focuses on a broad range of property-related matters including residential and commercial acquisitions, sales, and financing; easements; protective covenant schemes; title analyses; Land Court petitions; genealogical and historical research; probate and trust administration; estate planning; and business entity formation.

Caroline serves as the elected Town Moderator for West Tisbury and is an active member of the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury. She is also a meeting facilitator for her homeowners’ association, President of the Touchdown Club, and Treasurer of the Minnesingers Parents Group. She previously served on West Tisbury’s Affordable Housing Committee, Community Preservation Committee, and Board of Library Trustees, as well as on the board of the Island Housing Trust Corporation.

Caroline lives in West Tisbury with her children and their dog, Roux, in the Island Cohousing Community. Outside of work and community service, she enjoys walking the Island’s public trails, cooking, movies, and knitting.
